Our Story

At Myrtle Grove Implant & Family Dentistry, we’ve been proudly serving the Wilmington community for over 15 years. Our practice was founded with a simple mission: to provide exceptional dental care in a comfortable, friendly environment where patients feel like family. We’ve grown alongside our patients, continuously evolving our techniques and technology to deliver the best possible care for every smile.

Meet Dr. Dakota James Peachee

Dr. Peachee’s journey to dentistry began at High Point University, where his academic and athletic excellence earned him a full scholarship. As a biology student, he became the 2010 Jr. National track and field champion, competing at the World Jr. Championship and earning all-American honors by placing top 5 at the NCAA championship finals in the 3000-meter steeplechase. During his time at HPU, Dr. Peachee discovered dentistry as the perfect fusion of artistic vision, technical precision, and his passion for serving others. He met his wife Lilla, a student athlete from Hungary and now an entrepreneur in business rebranding. After graduation, Dr. Peachee worked as a chemist in R&D before attending East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, where he developed a deep appreciation for all facets of general dentistry. The couple’s love for the Carolina coast made their move to eastern North Carolina an easy choice. When not providing dental care, Dr. Peachee enjoys fishing the intracoastal waterways with his wife.

Meet Dr. Steven W. Smith, DDS

Dr. Smith was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he participated in wrestling, soccer, and ballroom dancing as a youth. His path to dentistry began in high school when he got braces and realized the profound impact a confident smile can have on self-esteem and quality of life. After completing his dental prerequisites at the University of Utah, Dr. Smith earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 2009. Following graduation, he served four years as an Army dentist before establishing his private practice in Leland, North Carolina. Dr. Smith is a member of the American Dental Association and North Carolina Dental Association, continuously pursuing advanced education to remain at the forefront of dental technology. Outside the office, he enjoys playing piano, coaching wrestling, diving, racquetball, mountain biking, and spending quality time with his wife Kenna and their three children—Teva, Olivia, and Marcus.

Even when they opened a location right down the street from me, I kept driving that 30 minutes. Then Dr. Peachee came along and increased my love for the staff even more. He is by far the best dentist I have ever had. That's saying a lot because I'm almost 60, and have always had a mouth full of trouble. So now I travel an hour and 23 minutes, and it's still worth it. Well, I had an emergency dental issue around one my molars stopped in to see Dr. Peachee and he immediately fixed the problem in 10 or 15 minutes and such a Pleasant dentist. I would highly recommend the dentist office 💯 as I was coming out of Harris teeter Julie who works in the office was opening the door and I asked if they were accepting new patients, she was so pleasant and informative and told me yes. I then went home to take the medicine I just purchased at Harris teeter due to extreme pain from two cavities when was a broken filling.
And then dealt with Danae, she was so sweet sent right over the forms I needed to fill out and scheduled me appointment ASAP. Special shout-out to Kim and Dr Peachee for making my procedure the quickest easiest and funniest experience I've ever had at a dentist. Trust me I was in no mood to laugh but due to their professionalism an immediate care I know I was in safe hands. Highly recommend any dental needs you have, give this office a shot!
