I live in Jacksonville, and used to travel to Sneads Ferry to Smith Family Dentistry because I loved the staff there. Even when they opened a location right down the street from me, I kept driving that 30 minutes. Then Dr. Peachee came along and increased my love for the staff even more. He is by far the best dentist I have ever had. That's saying a lot because I'm almost 60, and have always had a mouth full of trouble. So now I travel an hour and 23 minutes, and it's still worth it. The staff at this location is amazing as well. I highly recommend!

I would highly recommend the dentist office 💯 as I was coming out of Harris teeter Julie who works in the office was opening the door and I asked if they were accepting new patients, she was so pleasant and informative and told me yes. I then went home to take the medicine I just purchased at Harris teeter due to extreme pain from two cavities when was a broken filling. And then dealt with Danae, she was so sweet sent right over the forms I needed to fill out and scheduled me appointment ASAP. Special shout-out to Kim and Dr Peachee for making my procedure the quickest easiest and funniest experience I've ever had at a dentist. Trust me I was in no mood to laugh but due to their professionalism an immediate care I know I was in safe hands. Highly recommend any dental needs you have, give this office a shot! You won't regret it!

Most Popular Questions

Modern root canal procedures are typically no more uncomfortable than having a filling placed. We use effective local anesthesia to ensure you don’t feel pain during the procedure, and most patients report immediate relief from the toothache that brought them in. For anxious patients, we also offer sedation options to enhance comfort.

Common signs you might need a root canal include severe toothache, prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, discoloration of the tooth, swelling or tenderness in nearby gums, and persistent pimples on the gums. However, sometimes there are no symptoms. Regular dental check-ups help catch problems requiring root canal therapy before they become painful emergencies.

During root canal therapy, Dr. Peachee creates a small opening in the tooth to access the infected pulp. The infected tissue is removed, and the canals are cleaned, shaped, and disinfected. The space is then filled with a biocompatible material called gutta-percha, and the tooth is sealed. Finally, a crown is typically placed to protect and restore the tooth.

A: Most root canals can be completed in one or two appointments, depending on the complexity of the case. Simple, single-canal procedures may take 60-90 minutes, while more complex cases might require longer appointments or a follow-up visit. Dr. Peachee will provide a time estimate based on your specific situation.

A: Root canal therapy has a high success rate of approximately 95%. With proper care, most teeth that have undergone root canal treatment can last a lifetime. The key to long-term success is receiving a permanent restoration (typically a crown) after the procedure and maintaining good oral hygiene practices.

A: The main alternative to root canal therapy is tooth extraction, followed by replacing the missing tooth with an implant, bridge, or partial denture. However, saving your natural tooth with a root canal is generally the preferred option when possible, as it maintains your natural bite and requires less extensive treatment.
